Joe Lorenz of Belleville, IL is the man who created it. It contains every known penny machine location in the US. It is the perfect book to have handy when traveling. It features Name, Address, & Phone numbers of each location for locating, or contacting places to expand your penny collection! But, I was most thrilled to see the only illustration in the whole book is of a Pig Penny! Honored is an understatement. Thank you Joe, and congrats on a fantastic project.

What's a Pig Penny?

A Pig Penny is an elongated coin made to promote my hometown of Lexington, NC, including the "World Famous Pork BBQ" we are known for, historic local sites, & local businesses.

They are made from pre 1982 copper pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, and dollar coins.

In previous years there were 3-2007 designs, 4-2008 designs, and 7-2009 designs.  The 2007 designs include the 2007 Pig Penny (Retired), Smiley's BBQ, and Southern BBQ (Retired). The 2008 designs include the 2008 Pig Penny (Retired), Old Davidson Co. Courthouse (Retired), Smokey Joe's BBQ, and Smiley's BBQ (2nd design).  The 2009 designs include the 2009 Pig Penny (Retired), Statue on the Square, Jimmy's BBQ, Lexington Style Trimmings, The Coffee Cup, One 50's Cafe', & Speedy's BBQ.
